A Flushing man out on bail in an attempted rape case allegedly killed an exotic dancer in her Woodside apartment last week by stabbing her in the shower after they returned home together, authorities said.
Aaron Gutierrez, 23, of 144-44 41st Ave. in Flushing, was arraigned Friday night in Queens Criminal Court on charges of murder, attempted murder, assault and criminal possession of a weapon, a spokesman for Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said. Judge Lenore Gerald ordered him held without bail.
Gutierrez was already out on $10,000 bail on attempted rape charges when he met Marly Ambrosini at the Candlewood Inn on College Point Boulevard the night of March 12, later accompanying the 25-year-old exotic dancer to her basement apartment at 41-31 60th St. in Woodside, the District Attorney's spokesperson said.
It was there that Gutierrez allegedly stabbed Ambrosini repeatedly in the shower at 8:45 last Thursday morning, turning the knife on her roommate when she awoke to the sound of Ambrosini's screams, law enforcement sources said.
In the end, Ambrosini was dead and her roommate, a 35-year-old woman, was treated and released from Elmhurst Hospital Center, sources said.
Gutierrez eventually fled the apartment with the roommate running after him screaming, which tipped off city municipal workers who nabbed him and held him for police a few blocks away, law enforcement sources said. The apartment sits in a residential neighborhood only two blocks south of the shops and train stations of Roosevelt Avenue.
Ambrosini was stabbed repeatedly in the neck, chest and abdomen, law enforcement sources said, while her roommate suffered more superficial wounds to the neck, shoulders and arm.
The owner of the building where the stabbing occurred declined to comment when approached on the street Friday morning.
Law enforcement sources said Gutierrez claimed Ambrosini robbed him and initiated the assault.
In the attempted rape case in which Gutierrez had been released on bail, he allegedly tried to force himself at knifepoint on a female acquaintance who let him sleep in her apartment because he said he needed a place to stay, sources said.
According to the criminal complaint, Gutierrez entered the woman's room at 4 a.m., held a knife to her neck and threatened to kill her if she screamed. He allegedly held his hand over her mouth to prevent her from making noise, then cut her on her face, upper chest and hip when she tried to scream, the complaint said.
