Hausdorf nets game-winner as Cardozo tops Townsend Harris

After Carolyn Durniak scored the tying goal with 12 minutes left, Kristen Hausdorf netted the game-winner with less than two minutes left in the second half for the Cardozo girls’ soccer team, in a wild 5-4 win over rival Townsend Harris at Flushing Meadow Corona Park Friday.

“She was absolutely huge,” Cardozo coach Rich Parascos said of Hausdorf, who scored two goals for the Judges. “She showed the heart of a lion.”

Vivian James had a goal and an assist and Catherine Yim also scored for Cardozo (5-0 Queens A), which led 2-1 at halftime. Maria Paschalidis and Stacey Christoforids scored two goals apiece for Townsend Harris (4-1 Queens A).

“We took terrible penalties in our own box,” Parascos added. “We played undisciplined soccer.”

The two teams meet again May 5 at Cardozo. Kickoff is slated for 4 p.m.

Bryant 4, Richmond Hill 0. Lindsey Molina had two goals and one assist, Stacey Giannoukakis had a goal and two assists and Catherine Drizis added a goal and an assist for Bryant (9-1, 5-1 Queens A). Richmond Hill falls to 1-4.

Bayside 6, Flushing 0. Chelsea Johnson scored four goals for Bayside (2-3 Queens A), while Flushing falls to 0-6.

Francis Lewis 4, John Adams 0. Caroline Verna scored all four goals for Francis Lewis (5-1-1, 5-0 Queens A). Adams falls to 0-6.

Forest Hills 1, Thomas Edison 1. Kamila Barnes netted her division-leading seventh goal of the year on a free kick in the 35th minute to tie the game for Forest Hills (4-1-2, 3-1-2 Queens B-II). Catia Santos put Edison (1-2-2, 0-2-2 Queens B-I) in front on an assist from Zujenis Pico in the 20th minute.

Van Buren 7, Springfield Gardens 0. Tianna Grant and Crystal Tavarez scored two goals apiece and Rachel Toc, Odette Constantine and Diane Sadicarino added a goal each for Van Buren (4-0-1 Queens B-I). Springfield Gardens is 0-4.

Newcomers 3, Long Island City 0. Jenny Garcia scored two goals to lead Newcomers (4-0 Queens B-II), while Long Island City is now 1-3-2.

Arts and Business 1, Far Rockaway 0. Jaquely Roche scored the game-winner for Arts and Business (3-1-2 Queens B-II) in the second half. Far Rockaway falls to 3-3.
