The Our Lady of the Snows Intermediate boys baseball team opened its season with a workman like win over St. Mel’s, 7-3. Snows was led by the strong pitching of Frank Sadicario, who went the distance for the win, while striking out 15.
OLS jumped out to a three run lead in the top of the second when Jeremy Hausdorf tripled home Kevin Salcedo and later scored on Ray Potestio’s RBI groundout. The Snows boys then scored their third run by sandwiching back-to-back singles by Jonathan Dupuy and Anthony Civtano around a stolen base.
St. Mel’s got right back into the game in the bottom of the second with three runs of their own with the big hit being a triple off the bat of Frank Vicital. Our Lady of the Snows then scored two in the third, one in the fourth and one in the sixth to put the game away.
Some of the offensive highlights for Snows were supplied by Brain Biscotti, who doubled and scored a run. Potestio finished with two RBIs, Jay Hausdorf drove in three, Civtano scored twice and Salcedo scored three times. The boys played as a team and came up with the timely hits needed to defeat a tough St. Mel’s squad.
Next up for Our Lady of the Snows is Saint Margaret’s.
