KEW GARDENS — A 19-year-old man accused of striking and killing an Astoria boy with his SUV on Ditmars Boulevard in April was allowed to remain free on $10,000 bail at hearing in State Supreme Court Tuesday, the Queens DA’s office said.
Emmanuel Kanios was already charged with leaving the scene of an accident after the collision, but was indicted last month on manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide charges after a subsequent investigation.
Judge Robert Hanophy kept bail at the same level it had been before the additional charges were brought four months ago.
SUNNYSIDE – A unidentified 50-year-old man was found dead at 38-15 Queens Blvd. at 4:30 a.m. Sunday, police said.
No arrests were made and the investigation was ongoing.
Corona — A 46-year-old man was pronounced dead Wednesday after being pinned up against a dumpster as his co-worker backed a truck up, police said.
The incident occurred at about 2:30 a.m. in the vicinity of 30-01 Harper St., police said. There was no criminality suspected.
No arrests were made or summonses issued, police said. The investigation was ongoing.
ASTORIA – A 37-year-old man was sprayed in the face with an unknown substance by a group of three or four men making anti-gay remarks, police said.
The incident, deemed a possible bias crime, occurred shortly after midnight Monday at the corner of 34th Street and 31st Avenue, police said.
No arrests were made and the investigation was ongoing.
LONG ISLAND CITY – A Fire Department employee was arrested and charged with petit larceny and criminal possession of stolen property Monday, police said.
Frank Caccabale of Engine Co. 304 in Queens Village was arrested in the 108th Police Precinct, police said.
LONG ISLAND CITY – A traffic enforcement officer in Queens Plaza was in critical but stable condition after he was struck by a bicyclist leaving the Queensborough Bridge Saturday afternoon, police said.
The officer was assisting a victim of a past assault when he was struck, fell to the ground and hit his head, police said.
REGO PARK – Anti-Semitic remarks were discovered written on the exterior of 99-32 66th Rd. at about 10 a.m. Sunday morning, police said.
No arrests had been made and the investigation was ongoing.
RICHMOND HILL – An unidentified man in his 20s was found dead in a parking lot at 135th Street and 89th Avenue Tuesday, police said.
The medical examiner was determining the cause of death. An investigation was ongoing.
FRESH MEADOWS – Anti-Asian graffiti was scrawled Friday morning on a storage shed in the back of the schoolyard at PS 26, police said. No arrests had been made in the ongoing investigation.
QUEENS VILLAGE — A 32-year-old man and a 44-year-old man were shot in the legs last Thursday night in front of 94-45-212th St, police said.
The men were taken to Mary Immaculate Hospital, where they were in stable condition.
No arrests had been made, and the investigation was ongoing, police said.
SOUTH JAMAICA – A 15-year-old boy was shot in the leg around 8 a.m. Sunday morning by an unidentified black male, police said.
The boy was shot on the corner of Inwood Street and Rockaway Boulevard, police said. He was taken to Jamaica Hospital where he was listed in stable condition, police said.
No arrests were made and the investigation was ongoing.
FAR ROCKAWAY — An 18-year-old man was found dead in the lobby of 23-11 Cornaga Ave. Tuesday afternoon, police said.
The victim was found with multiple stab wounds about his body, police said. Carlos Polanco, 19, of the same address was arrested and charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon, police said.
JAMAICA – A 27-year-old man was shot three times about the body Tuesday after a dispute with an unidentified man, police said.
The shooting occurred around 5 p.m. at the corner of 164th Street and 89th Avenue, police said. The victim was removed to Mary Immaculate Hospital in stable condition.
No arrests had been made in the ongoing investigation.
QUEENS VILLAGE – A 44-year-old Asian man received a threatening letter due to his ethnicity Aug. 20, police said.
The man received the letter at his home within the boundaries of the 105th Precinct, police said.
