DG Basketball: Whitestone Pet Center bests Donnelly Home

DG Major Division

In a battle of defenses, Whitestone Pet Center defeated the Donnelly Home for Adults, 33-31. Whitestone Pet Center was led to victory behind the strong end-to-end play of Andrew Lehr and Glen Barker Jr. Donnelly was led in scoring by Adam Breidbart, Jonathan Lee and Keith Lippert with eight points, eight points and seven points, respectively.

Max Meltzer and Jonathan Scialpi led Donnelly on the defensive end, but Donnelly came up short.

DG Bantam Division

VFW Post 4784 defeated The David & Nancy Legaz-ReMax Universal Team, 26-20. Thomas Regan lead all scorers, putting 17 points on the board. His scoring and great rebounding led the team to victory.

Anthony Andreani scored four points, and Alex Langrock, Tom Brady and Christopher Regan each added points. Great defense was played by all. ReMax came out flat to start the game and was unable to right the ship until late in the third quarter.

Ricky Callahan found himself in some early foul trouble, and Nicholas Sipp had an excellent defensive game with two steals. David Legaz ran the floor with seven assists and two steals. Kenny Bishop broke up numerous plays with his aggressive defensive attitude.

DG Novice Division

The Pee Wee Folks Preschool and After School Center beat Sarcona Management Inc., 14-12. The game went to the last second, as a shot missed by Sarcona Management failed to tie the score.

Pee Wee Folks was led by Kenneth Ling’s great defensive plays and scoring, which contributed to the victory. Jessica Brandon again led her team in rebounds and scored a basket. Jonathan Ho led the team in assists.

For Sarcona Management, Kalean Harris had three baskets, Ashley Shwenk scored two baskets and Sabrina Rivera had one.

The game between Tiffany and Dun-rite was a hard-fought defensive battle with the score tied 16 at the end of regulation time. For Tiffany it was a team effort with Anthony Scarallo’s passing to open teammates Matthew Siano, Dylan Chateau, Ismael Nehhas and Arian Florez Innarella.

Dun-rite was led by Joe Allmodorar’s 10 points.

DG Girls’ A Division

In a total team effort, Cristom Construction defeated Graham Restoration, 12-2. Cristom Construction was led by the scoring of Nicole Naposki, the all-around play of Jenna Schiffman and Meaghan Callahan and the defense of Melanie Vega and Melissa Bellomo. Cristom Construction improved its record to 3-1.
