“Northern California, here we come again,” said David Neeleman, JetBlue CEO. “We're excited to be announcing service to San Jose, our sixth California city, just one week after inaugurating our new Sacramento service.
“It's also great to be able to offer new non-stop capital-to-capital service between Washington, D.C. and Sacramento and twice-daily flights between Boston and Oakland just two months after inaugurating Boston service.”
JetBlue will start on non-stop flights on May 4 between Dulles International Airport in Washington and Sacramento at an introductory fare of $99 one way when booked on JetBlue's Web site, www.jetblue.com.
The JetBlue service between John F. Kennedy International Airport and Sacramento began March 3, and the San Jose destination also was expected to be offered via flights out of JFK.
May 4 will also bring the start of twice-daily non-stop flights between Boston and Oakland at $99 one-way when booked on www.jetblue.com.
Both the Sacramento and Oakland fares require a 14-day advance purchase and must be purchased by March 26 for travel through May 27.
JetBlue said its new online check-in system enables passengers to print their own boarding passes.
The system is available to JetBlue passengers holding confirmed reservations and traveling with carry-on luggage only. Online flight check-in is available to customers up to 24 hours before but no less than 90 minutes before to their scheduled departure time.
JetBlue last month also introduced at JFK the first of more than 150 self-service check-in kiosks. They will be installed at airports throughout the nation and allow customers with carry-on luggage to check in, choose or change their seat assignments and obtain boarding passes.
Based at JFK, JetBlue operates 238 flights a day and serves 23 destinations in 11 states and Puerto Rico.
