ASTORIA — A 22-year-old Astoria man was arrested on charges he killed an 83-year-old pedestrian in a drunk driving crash May 19, police said.
Agnes DeCirstino, of 23rd Street, was struck outside her home by a 1990 gray Chevrolet allegeldy driven by Nick Drossos, of 20th Street, at 8:30 a.m. May 19, police said. Drossos allegeldy fled the scene and was stopped at the corner of Crescent and Astoria boulevards after making an illegal turn, police said.
While the officer were questioning Drossos they heard about the accident over the radio and arrested him, police said.
DeCirstino was removed to Elmhurst Hospital Center, where she was pronounced dead about an hour later, police said.
Drossos was charged with vehicular manslaughter, negligent homicide, driving under the influence and driving without a license, police said.
