In a hotly contested game between two teams in the newly organized DePhillips Athletic Club Senior Girls’ Softball Division, McDonald’s Little Neck edged Patrick J. Falci & Daughters, Inc. 14-13.
Christina Agnello of Patrick J. Falci & Daughters, Inc. pitched six strong innings, striking out eight. The big blow was a double by Gina Loriggio and singles by Christina Trezza, Nicole Agnello, Jessica Bonfondeo, Jessica Garcia and Theresa Goff put Patrick J. Falci & Daughters, Inc a three-run lead heading into the seventh inning.
But McDonald’s roared back. Diana Krauss went 3-for-3 with a home run and had help from Zoi Kourkemelis, Jena Berenson, Chloe Rodriguez and Philisha Sepulveda.
Catalina Villa’s walk set up the game-winning run as Stephanie Lopez double capped a great come-from-behind win for McDonald’s Little Neck.
In the Major Division, DAC’s Team 6 beat Mid-Queens 2, 17-10 as the pitching of Molloy Karow, Sam Duggan and Natalie Pruden was unstoppable while Sara Ho, Sara Friedman and Dani Yaron kept the hits coming.
Lauren Minoe’s RBI and Alyssa Navas’ walk made it nearly impossible for Mid-Queens to come back. Olivia Karow and the rest of the DAC team played solid defense to make it a well-deserved win.
DAC’s Blue Tigers, sponsored by Triogca, beat a tough DAC team, 11-1. The Blue Tigers were led by Michelle Romano’s booming triple and three brilliant innings of pitching by Donna Cafasso.
The offense was keyed by allison Winowsky and Alessa Castaldi, who cracked back-to-back doubles, Samantha Sepulveda and Lauren Block each added a pair of hits and Samantha Gosman knocked in an important run with a clutch grounder.
Amanda Livingston speared a line drive and Nicole Marx cut off two blasts to the outfield preventing several runs from scoring. Lorie Grech played a flawless first base and Allison Randall did well behind the plate.
