City Councilman Joseph Addabbo (D-Howard Beach) said he got a telephone call from Danny Chan, owner of Danny's Szechuan Garden restaurant at 164-14 Cross Bay Blvd.”Danny and I have been friends for years and he said he would like to help the victims of this great tragedy. He said, ' What can I do?'” said Addabbo. “We talked about it and he decided to contribute part of his proceeds for a day.” Danny's Szechuan Garden is donating half of his proceeds from this past Wednesday to the Red Cross.Addabbo said he had extended an invitation to “everyone, whether it be a restaurant or any other merchant. It all helps no matter how much – large or small.”Addabbo said others who have offered help include children of PS 207, who plan to go to Burger King Friday.Melynda Rabert, manager of the Burger King at 161-50 Cross Bay Blvd., will welcome the children from PS 207 and their parents between 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. with 30 percent of the proceeds during that period to be donated for tsunami relief.”The school does fund-raisers regularly and they came to us and asked about one for tsunami victims and we decided to increase our contribution this time,” Rabert said. “We are hoping for a big turnout, of course.”Addabbo said more contributors may also be offering help as his office had received several inquiries from other businesses.
