This week I met Dr. Mark Haiman of Animal Holistic Care, at 47-41 Little Neck Parkway, who has been in practice since 1986.”I have always had a great fondness for animals and biology, so practicing veterinarian medicine made sense,” Haiman said of his interest in veterinary medicine. “I get the best of both worlds everyday Ð who can ask for more from a profession.”Haiman lived in Europe and studied veterinarian medicine at the University of Bologna in Italy from which he graduated in 1978. Haiman specializes in dogs, cats and birds, “but the majority of my practice is dogs and cats.”What separates him from others in his profession is that he deals in integrative and holistic medicines and treatments for the animals he treats. “Holistic medical treatment is medicines used for our pets that are derived from herbal supplements and focus on positive diet changes for our pets, as well the utilization of natural herbs. Integrative medicine is the use of the conventional medicines used for our pets, as well as the use of the holistic medicines. I have found that these treatments have done very well in treating animal arthritis and allergies and I have also had good responsive treatment to animals with cancer.”So how's business with regard to our pets? My wife and I have two Yorkies (whom we adore) and we have only praises for Dr. Haiman, his staff and his medical practice.
