For the past six years, Bronx firefighters have been uniting with their counterparts in Westchester and Rockland counties to help families in need, and this year, firefighters are coming together to help a sick young girl fighting a rare disease.
Before millions of Americans gather to watch the Super Bowl on Sunday, February 5, the Stony Point Seals, a Polar Bears-type club made up of firefighters, will be gathering at noon to swim in the Hudson River off Stony Point in Rockland in the hopes of raising money for Gianna Riello, the three-year-old daughter of Joseph and Susan Riello, was born with a rare and often lethal form of dwarfism called campomelic dysplasia that affects her bone structure.
