Roger Toussaint, president of the Transport Workers Union Local 100, Friday announced the result of voting by the union members. Toussaint said the union, which has nearly 34,000 workers, voted not to ratify the tentative contract by seven votes.
There was no immediate word on the next step involving the union and the MTA, which holds its monthly board meeting Wednesday.
The three-day strike nearly paralyzed transportation in New York City and some estimates of the economic damage to the city were more than $1 billion.
