Suruj Sirkeshun can hardly stand from diabetes. The disease has attacked his foot and lower leg and forced him to retire from his 19-year job as a nursing attendant five years ago.
And while times may be tough for Sirkeshun physically, he says life is infinitely more difficult at home where his dilapidated third floor apartment at 2490 Tiebout Avenue is infested with roaches and mice and is seemingly crumbling around him. The 51-year-old father of four, who suffers from vascular disease, blurred vision, and can barely walk as a result of diabetes, has reached out to his superintendent and the owners of the building for assistance
