Each month, Community Board 10 awards a prominent member of the Bay Ridge community its “Honor of the Pledge.” For January, the honor went to Suzanne Whittaker, president of the Home School Association at St. Anselm’s School, 83rd Street and Fourth Avenue, where the board’s January meeting was held. Approximately 530 children attend St. Anselm’s, in pre-kindergarten through grade eight. The school, and its Home School Association, have been embroiled, over the past several months, in fighting the installation of cell phone equipment on the roof of an apartment building across the street from the school. Whittaker has been president of the Home School Association since 2002. “She’s been doing a spectacular job,” attested Craig Eaton, the chairperson of CB 10.
