Queens Theatre in the Park will present The Nutcracker. On Tuesday, January 2 at 3:30 p.m., Flushing Library will present Scrabble Battle. Tuesdays, January 2-30, until 5 p.m., ages 6-12 learn to play Scrabble. Fun, friends and prizes. On Saturday, December 30 at 2 and 7 p.m., Queens Theatre in the Park will present Avner the Eccentric. Avner the Eccentric's one-man shows have been a hit for decades and have endured worldwide as they defy the barriers of language and culture. Variety says he is Avner the clown, The Mime, The Juggler, The Magician or The Eclectic. Most of all he is Avner the Entertainer. He has an ability to interact with an audience born of years as a street performer. Queens Theatre in the Park is located at Flushing Meadows-Corona Park. On Wednesday, January 3 at 4 p.m., Cambria Heights will present Sea Monsters - Truth or Tale? An interactive video teleconference about monstrous, dangerous deep-sea creatures live from Mote Marine Laboratory in Sarasota, FL. Funded by the institute of Museum and Library Services. On Friday, December 29 at 12:30 and 2:30 p.m., Long Island Children's Museum will present Lucky Red Envelopes. Children will learn about Chinese culture and make their own Lucky Red envelopes, a Chinese New Year tradition. These envelopes are filled with money and are given to children and young people on New Year's Eve when families and friends get together for a delicious feast. On Friday, January 5 at 4 p.m., Bayside Library will present Space Road Show. Ages 6 to 14 zoom around the Solar System, the Milky Way and the universe with this multimedia show with a real astronomer. Pre-registration is a must.
