Envy me not

We all know that green is the color associated with envy, and therefore green is SO not my color, or yours, or hers, or anyone else’s for that matter.
These days people are so caught up in coveting what they do not have, that they lose sight of what they do have.
Girls are constantly competing about who has the most expensive purse, who is the skinniest, who is the prettiest, who is the most popular, and the list goes on and on. Guys want to be the buffest, the most athletic, the tallest, etc.
Envy and jealousy also go beyond material things with people wishing they were as smart, clever, funny, or determined as someone else. Instead of focusing on someone else’s talents and possessions, focus on your own. By fixating on what you do not have, you are wasting the potential of what you do have.
It is not that we all are not equal, it is that we all are not the same. Use your talents to the best of your ability and live your life to the fullest instead of envying someone else’s seemingly perfect life.
Time can be wasted - but never recycled - so why waste your time on something you can’t change? You cannot change someone else’s luck, but you can change your own.
Like Gandhi once said, “You must be the change you wish to see in this world.” With an attitude like that, the only person you should ever envy is yourself!
