Flushing Savings Bank opens Forest Hills branch

Flushing Savings Bank has expanded its presence in Queens even further with a new branch in Forest Hills.
“We’re very, very excited to be a part of the Forest Hills community,” said John Buran, the bank’s President and CEO. “This is one of the really premiere communities of Queens. This is a center of commercial activity. It’s a very exciting place to be.”
The newest branch, which is located at 107-11 Continental Avenue, held its grand opening on Friday, February 9. During the celebration, Councilmember Melinda Katz thanked the bank for making an investment in the neighborhood, while also saying that it is a good sign for Forest Hills and the city as a whole.
“It really goes to show that Queens’ economic development has been growing and is strong and it shows the rest of the City of New York that you never have to go under a tunnel or over a bridge to get exactly what you need in the City of New York,” Katz said. “We have it all right here in the borough of Queens.”
The Forest Hills branch of Flushing Savings Bank features high-tech security and crime prevention technology, including state-of-the-art digital cameras and well-lit ATMs.
Forest Hills Branch Manager and Assistant Vice President Sarah Khan said Flushing Savings Bank’s knowledge of its customers is unique.
“I think one of our niches with Flushing [Savings Bank] is that we know our customers personally and financially,” she said.
The bank has already gotten a favorable response from the community.
“We realized this is a good fit,” said Regional Manager Cathy dePasquale. “We’ve been welcomed nicely into the community.”
Buran added, “It’s been tremendous. We’re very, very pleased with the manner in which people have responded to us. We’re thrilled; we’re happy to be here.”
The bank has already begun to reach out to local organizations, saying that since they are a community bank it is important for them to be involved in the community.
Khan and Buran both said that the goal for the newest branch of Flushing Savings Bank is “to be the best bank in Forest Hills.”
