There was none of that fire shown in wins over Notre Dame and Syracuse last week, as St. John's fell 72-46 against a team it had beaten twice in the last two years.St. John's (12-9, 3-5 Big East) got behind and couldn't punch back. Pittsburgh (19-3, 7-1) led 33-23 at halftime, and even though the margin wasn't that wide, the looks on the Red Storm player's faces were long. In the first 8:28 of the second half, the Johnnies made only two field goals as the Panthers got out to a 46-29 lead.”When they got out to a lead, we kind of got out of our heads a little bit,” St. John's coach Norm Roberts said. The formula has been eerily similar this season for the Johnnies. Get ahead early and keep their composure; fall behind and hang their heads. “I know from a fan's standpoint, it looks like that,” sophomore Anthony Mason Jr. said. “But we try to stick with it, we try to change it.”SJU hosts Georgetown at MSG Thursday.
