Dr. Scott Danoff, a dentist in Little Neck who specializes in prosthodontics, places a major emphasis on educating patients while also giving back to the community.
Danoff attended the University of Pennsylvania and has been practicing for about 24 years. He said that he has always been good with his hands, enjoying activities such as building furniture, and loves tinkering with things, which is why he decided to go into dentistry.
For the last 17 years, Danoff, a father of five whose wife Laura is an orthodontist, has had his private practice in Little Neck. As a prosthodontist, Danoff said he does reconstructive, cosmetic, restorative and implant work. Along with doing general comprehensive dentistry, Danoff said he does a lot of whitening.
Danoff’s philosophy is that an “educated consumer is my best customer.” He said it is important for patients to know what is going on inside of their mouth and how to take care of it.
Another thing that sets Danoff’s practice apart from others is the reputation that he has built while being in the community. He has a large number of referrals, including ones that come from other dentists who do not do prosthodontal work.
Danoff, who was recently made a fellow with the International Academy of Dental-Facial Esthetics, also does a great deal to give back. Among other things, he donates his time and work to assist women who are victims of domestic violence through Give Back a Smile.
For Danoff, the most rewarding part of his work is “seeing the person smile when I’m done.” He said that he enjoys hearing comments from patients, family and friends about a person smiling more than they used to and knowing that they are proud and confident about their smile.
Danoff’s practice is located at 49-33 Little Neck Parkway. It is open Monday through Friday with varying hours. Danoff said that, at times, they have been open as early as 7 a.m. or as late as 9 p.m. He also said that Saturday hours will be coming soon.
