Woman who allegedly killed, mutilated dad charged

The woman who allegedly bound, gagged and mutilated her abusive father inside her third-floor apartment in Rockaway on July 28 has been charged in the murder.
“The defendant, who for the past several weeks has been confined to a Staten Island psychiatric facility, is accused of a deeply disturbing crime in which she allegedly plotted and carried out the murder of her father and the mutilation of his body,” said District Attorney Richard A. Brown.
The district attorney identified the defendant as Brigitte Harris, 26, of 436 Beach 69th Street.
Harris, who is employed as a security guard at Kennedy Airport, has been charged with second-degree murder and first-degree manslaughter.
If convicted, she faces up to 25 years to life in prison.
Harris was arrested by detectives of the New York City Police Department’s 100th Precinct Detective Squad and the Queens County Homicide Squad and was arraigned in Queens Criminal Court on Thursday, August 16.
According to the charges, Harris lured her father, Eric Goodridge, 55, of Staten Island, to her Rockaway apartment on the morning of Saturday, July 28.
Once there, she allegedly handcuffed him, gagged him with a towel, wrapped the towel around his head and secured it with duct tape.
According to the medical examiner’s report, the cause of death was asphyxiation due to gagging, covering of the mouth and neck compression. Once dead, it is alleged that Harris then mutilated his body by castrating him.
Harris’ lawyer, Arthur Aidala, alleges that the victim had sexually abused her since she was three years old.
Following the killing, it is alleged that Harris went to a location in Staten Island where, in response to a 9-1-1 call of an emotionally disturbed person, she was transported to a psychiatric facility at the Richmond University Medical Center.
“I think it’s clear to everyone involved that Miss Harris needs to be hospitalized and treated for the years of abuse she suffered at the hands of her father,” said Aidala in published reports.
