Hit-And-Run On GCP Leaves Worker Injured

A 77-year-old driver has been arrested for allegedly hitting a construction worker on the Grand Central Parkway (GCP) and fleeing the scene of the accident.
The incident occurred on October 18 at about 2:30 a.m., when the victim, 43, stepped into the only lane open to traffic. He was then struck by a black Mercedes, which sped off.
Police shut down the highway to perform car searches, and arrested the driver a short time later. Witnesses say the 77-year-old had been speeding.
“He got hit while we were out there working,” said the victim’s co-worker Reggie Poole in published reports. “The car was going about 60 to 70 miles an hour. [The car] clipped him, and I turned around, he was in the air, maybe about four feet in the air. The car kept going.”
The worker is in critical condition at Jamaica Hospital.
