DEMO PLANNED ON SPACIOUS AGAR PLACE LOT

The owners of a large, white-shingled home in Country Club filed demolition plans in early December, setting off speculation that multiple homes might be built on the expansive lot.

At over 17,500 square feet, the property at 3371 Agar Place is only slightly smaller than the former Menna family estate on Stadium Avenue, where three large homes are now being built.

If a multi-home development does materialize, it would be just the latest in a community known to take pride in its spacious yards and quiet, country feel.

In addition to the Stadium Avenue project, five homes are rising at the site of a century-old mansion on Rawlins Avenue that was torn down in early 2006.

The Agar home, built in 1940 and distinguished by a row of bulbous hedges and a circular driveway, belonged to Joseph and Angelina Cipollone from 1974 until their recent deaths.

A representative for their four children confirmed plans to demolish the home but declined to comment further, citing the property
