For the last 60 years, Scovotti & Company, Inc. has been a household name for Bronxites and this year while celebrating its milestone anniversary, the local insurance and real estate firm will also celebrate an expansion of services.
Founded in 1947 by brothers Anthony and Louis Scovotti, the Pelham Bay agency has undergone four major expansions since, growing from 200 to 3,000 square feet.
Still, six decades later, Scovotti remains in their original location at 1717 Crosby Avenue, between Roberts and Westchester avenues.
And business has grown a bit over the years, too. Today, Scovotti is the largest insurance agent in the Bronx with over 3,000 clients and 15 staff members.
This November, current owners Anthony and Chris Scovotti, sons of the late-Anthony Scovotti, underwent another expansion, though not physical.
Through an alliance with John G. Madden Insurance, formerly based at 3515 E. Tremont Avenue, Scovotti has added about 500 insurance clients to its register.
The alliance came when Madden decided to semi-retire but wanted to make sure his clients would be treated with the same, dedicated service.
