Rising star Ashton Pankey was asked to leave Archbishop Molloy this week because he was found on school grounds possessing a stolen cell phone, numerous sources have told the TimesLedger.
The 6-foot-8 sophomore, who was among the most talented forwards in the Class of 2010, was facing a possible expulsion when he withdrew from the Briarwood school, sources said.
Pankey, a Bronx native and regular starter for the Stanners, averaged 15.1 points per game. He was said to be seen at New Jersey powerhouse St. Anthony's in Jersey City Friday, according to sources.
