Molloy runners star in Mayor’s Cup

Archbishop Molloy’s Jarenn Stewart set a Mayor’s Cup record in the long jump by leaping 22 feet and 10 inches and Brittney Dombrowski did the same in the javelin throw, tossing it 121 feet and one inch. Other Stanners to shine were Steve Lewis, who was second in the javelin throw and Dan Acosta placed fourth.
Also in boys competition, Rafael Krespa of Grover Cleveland won the 1600-meter run with a time of 4:26:20, edging Joseph Myrie of Collegiate and Springfield Gardens leaper Weymour Johnson took home second-place honors in the high jump.
On the girls side, Asha Daley and Dominique Burrus of Jamaica finished second and third respectively, in the 100-meter hurdles, Whitney Ford, also of Jamaica, finished third in the 100-meter dash, and Laurelton native Phyllis Francis of Catherine McCauley bested Cardozo’s Dalilah Muhammad in the 800 meters.
