Offer low cost healing arts for Veterans

Michael Gaeta said he wants to needle veterans - but he means it in the nicest possible way.
That’s why the licensed acupuncturist, nutritionist and massage therapist founded Acupuncture for Veterans, which opened its doors within the “Hands-On Health Wholistic Center” in Kew Gardens recently.
“Our new clinic aims to serve those who have served our nation so well - veterans of war - those who have put their lives on the line for our country,” said Gaeta, Director of Hands-On Health.
For those who have experienced trauma, acupuncture is a proven treatment that aids in healing, promotes pain relief, lessens post-traumatic stress, encourages relaxation, and restores strength, vitality and peace, the Center declared.
Their view is that acupuncture treatment also provides care for the caregivers - helping families better support their loved ones.
“Our appreciation for their sacrifices is more than can be said,” Gaeta vowed, “Here we can provide real assistance, relief and comfort using the ancient healing art of acupuncture.”
Veterans and their families will be treated in a group setting by appointment. Fees will be on a sliding scale basis.
“The group treatment model allows us to make it an effective low-cost option for vets and their families,” said Gaeta, adding “And we hope to receive donations, which will make it possible for us to provide free treatments.”
A past president of the Acupuncture Society of New York, Gaeta received his Master’s degree from the New York College of Health Professions, where he was a faculty member for 10 years.
In 1990, he founded “Hands-On Health Wholistic Centers,” a group practice with three locations in New York. Services include Acupuncture, Clinical Nutrition, Herbal Medicine, Cardiology, Internal Medicine, Massage Therapy, Bach Flower Essences, Health Lectures, Corporate Wellness Programs, Reiki and Acutonics.
They also have special programs in: Weight Loss; Smoking Cessation; Gastrointestinal Restoration; Cleansing & Liver Detoxification; Natural Health Care for Children; Prenatal and Postpartum Care; Meditation and Stress Management and Facial Rejuvenation with Acupuncture.
The Clinic is located at 119-40 Metropolitan Avenue, Concourse 102, in Kew Gardens. On Tuesdays and Thursdays their hours are from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. and 3 to 7 p.m. for veterans; on Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for families.
