Katy Grogan scholarship fund established

Katy Grogan was a vibrant 18-year-old girl from Bayside, a senior at Archbishop Molloy High School in Briarwood and a star soccer player for FC New York United Tigers, when her life was cut short on February 15 of this year.
The team was at a tournament in Tampa, Florida; Grogan and teammate Brittany Gruber, 17, were struck by a car while crossing a wide road after going for a late snack.
Grogan was a graduate of the Sacred Heart School in Bayside. An honor student who aspired to be a doctor, she is remembered as a “wonderful person who cared deeply about others and wanted to dedicate her life to those in need.”
“In her memory, and to accomplish her life’s dream,” organizers say that a scholarship fund has been established so that, each year, a deserving student from Sacred Heart School in Bayside can attend Archbishop Molloy High School.
“Please remember Katy in your prayers and perform a daily act of kindness in her memory,” they ask. “Thank you for loving her.”
In order to support the fund contributions are requested. They can be made at Lloyd Funeral Home, 214-43 39th Avenue in Bayside during visitations, or by mail to:
Sister Kathleen at Sacred Heart Convent, 215-28 38th Avenue, Bayside, NY 11361.
Checks should be made payable to: Katy Grogan Scholarship Fund.
