Immaculate Conception remembers the lost

Students from the Immaculate Conception School of Jamaica Estates remembered the events of 9/11 this year by continuing a reverent tradition.
The entire school participated in a prayer service with the solemn ringing of the school’s Peace Bell and marked a moment of silence. Two members of their parish were killed on that fateful day; Emy De La Pena and Hector Tamayo.
Shown here, (from left) students Fred Louis Bauto, Nalisha Rampersaud and Philippe Woolley work on their 9/11 memorial tribute inside their school. On the wall are plaques and descriptions of the lost parishioners.
