Police said they have reclassified a Woodside robbery as a homicide after a gas station attendant who was held up at gunpoint last week died of a heart attack shortly thereafter.
Noor Khan, 42, who lived on 58th Street in Woodside, suffered a fatal heart attack after the Getty gas station in Woodside at which he works was robbed last Thursday, a spokeswoman for the city medical examiner’s office said.
No one answered the door at Khan’s home last weekend.
Police said Khan told them that the robber entered the gas station, at 56−02 Broadway in Woodside, around 10:30 p.m., flashed a gun and demanded money. The robber then fled the location with an unknown amount of money, police said.
Khan fell ill while talking with police and was taken to Elmhurst Hospital, where he was pronounced dead after he suffered cardiac arrest, the medical examiner’s spokeswoman said. Police then reclassified the robbery as a homicide.
No arrests had been made and the investigation was ongoing, police said.
But police said the suspect was caught on a video surveillance camera at the store.
The suspect was described as a black man who was believed to be between the ages of 25 and 35, police said. The man was last seen wearing a light−colored jacket, blue jeans and a black hat, police said.
