FLUSHING — Police arrested a 35−year−old Flushing woman after she allegedly purchased a $32,000 car in another person’s name, the Queens district attorney said.
Yu Liu, of 42−20 Kissena Blvd. in Flushing, was arraigned Friday before Queens Criminal Court Judge Lenora Gerald on charges of grand larceny, criminal possession of stolen property, forgery, criminal possession of a forged instrument, identity theft, falsifying business records and unlawful possession of person identification, Queens DA Richard Brown said.
The defendant had allegedly bought the car by presenting a power of attorney that had purportedly been signed by the victim, the DA said. On the credit application, the defendant is alleged to have used the victim’s name, Social Security number and address, the DA said.
The victim said they had neither signed a power of attorney nor authorized the defendant to allegedly use her personal identification information, Brown said.
