If attacking a Republican state senator for writing a letter of support for a former Democratic state Assemblyman he worked closely with for decades is the only thing Democratic Senate Campaign Committee spokesman Shams Tarek can come up with, then it is time to become a Republican.
As a Democrat and community activist for over 25 years, I have brought issues to state Sen. Frank Padavan (R−Bellerose) for 20 of those years, even though he is not my senator. I did the same with former state Assemblyman Brian McLaughlin and he was not my assemblyman.
McLaughlin and Padavan worked as a team for the betterment of all communities. How dare Tarek attack a man’s loyalty to a friend and former colleague. He attacked the only Republican senator to work hand−in−hand with Assemblyman Mark Weprin (D−Little Neck), another friend of Padavan’s. If he wrote a letter supporting Padavan, what would they do?
There is so much chaos in Albany under the Democrats’ watch. Padavan has been a senator for over 35 years.
As a Democrat, I am ashamed of the underhanded, desperate and shameful tactics of the party.
