BAYSIDE — Two Long Island men were arrested in Bayside last week after 40 cases of fireworks were allegedly discovered in their car, police said.
Corey McQueen, 26, and Timothy McQueen, 30, both of whom live at 52 Francine Ave. in Massapequa, L.I., were arrested June 10 on fireworks possession charges after police pulled over their 1998 Toyota Camry on Northern Boulevard at the Cross Island Parkway in Bayside around 8:30 p.m., police said.
But police could not determine whether the men were related and did not specify why their car was stopped.
The pair was allegedly transporting about 40 cases of fireworks, but police could not verify how much the entire cache was worth.
The bust, which was made by the NYPD’s Organized Crime Control Bureau, was part of an ongoing city effort to crack down on fireworks as the Fourth of July approaches, police said.
