NEW JERSEY — A 5-year-old Maspeth boy was recovering at a Philadelphia hospital this weekend after he nearly drowned at a campground, New Jersey state police said.
Emergency responders were sent to the Buena Vista Campground in Buena Vista, N.J., Friday afternoon, where David N. Pereira was found unconscious after being in the water, police said.
EMS administered life-saving techniques on the Queens boy and rushed him to Southern Regional Hospital in Vineland, N.J., according to authorities. He was later airlifted to the Children’s Hospital in Philadelphia, where he was listed in stable condition.
Initial police reports had David as having a pulse, but not breathing. On Sunday, the boy was still listed in serious but stable condition and was having seizures, according to New Jersey state police.
