Are we not all sick and tired of politics as usuali King Bloomberg has usurped the spirit of democracy by pushing (buying) the City Council to extend his term limits. Councilman Peter Vallone has succumbed to Bloomberg’s pressure and acquiesced to his demand for term limit extensions. Vallone claims that in a time of economic distress, Bloomberg is the most qualified to see New Yorkers through the turmoil.
Ironic, isn’t it, that Bloomberg has been in charge throughout the economic crisis?
Vallone is a Democrat, Bloomberg is an opportunist courting Republican support. Where lies the difference between these two supposed political partiesi When it comes to maintaining the status quo, they share the same platform.
Which is why I support Lynne Serpe for City Council. As an advocate for green jobs, affordable transportation, fair and transparent election processes and other progressive causes, Serpe, a Green Party candidate, represents an outside, independent voice much needed in City Council. I encourage all my fellow Astorians to sign petitions to get her on the ballot, and to vote her into — and Peter Vallone out of — our City Council.
