On July 13, Bowne Street in Flushing played host to a once-in-a-lifetime explosion of Hindu ritual on the streets of New York as the Ganesh Temple was reconsecrated after 18 months of extensive renovation and expansion.
TimesLedger Reporter Stephen Stirling and Photo Editor Christina Santucci caputured the sights and sounds of this jubilant celebration as priests, worshippers, performers and, of course, a live elephant paraded through the grounds of the temple and sanctified one of the largest Hindu shrines in the country.
