FLUSHING — A 42-year-old Whitestone man was arrested after he allegedly pretended to be a public servant and harassed another man and his child outside a Flushing pharmacy, the Queens district attorney said.
John Albanese, of 16-11 160th St. in Whitestone, was arraigned Nov. 18 before Queens Criminal Court Judge Lenora Gerald on charges of criminal impersonation, endangering the welfare of a child, criminal possession of a weapon and harassment as well as being given a motor vehicle registration fee, Queens DA Richard Brown said.
On Nov. 27, the defendant is alleged to have hovered over a 2-year-old child outside a Flushing pharmacy on Francis Lewis Boulevard around 11:30 a.m., the DA said. The child’s father allegedly told the defendant to get away from the boy.
Albanese walked away but then returned again and began hovering over the child, the DA said. Upon being told again to get away from the child, the defendant is alleged to have yelled that he was a federal employee and that he could have the father arrested, Brown said.
Police allegedly discovered a gravity knife on the seat of the defendant’s red Pontiac, which had expired registration, the DA said.
