Queens trains and buses on the MTA chopping block

The Long Island Rail Road’s branch service cuts will become effective with the May 17 and Sept. 13 timetable changes.

Port Washington: Hourly rather than 30-minute interval trains.

Babylon: Four trains will become two trains and two p.m. peak-period trains will become one.

Ronkonkoma: One p.m. peak train will be scrubbed, as will weekend service between Ronkonkoma and Greenport.

Long Beach: One p.m. peak train to the Atlantic terminal in Brooklyn and one a.m. peak train to the Atlantic terminal will be discontinued.

West Hempstead: Weekend service will be discontinued.

Atlantic: Late night service to Brooklyn will end.

Hempstead: Shorter trains.

Belmont Park: Elimination of service Wednesday to Sunday except for the Belmont Stakes.

Oyster Bay: Cancel one round-trip each day on weekends.

Port Jefferson: Cancel one p.m. peak diesel train.

Montauk branch: Cancel one train from Hunterspoint, excluding summer Fridays.

Buses

A number of Queens bus routes will be eliminated, shortened or changed.

Q14, Q26, Q42, Q74, Q75 and Q79: eliminated.

Q25 and Q42: Eliminated except for weekday rush hours.

Q31, Q48 and Q76: Eliminated on weekends.

Q15 and Q24: Rerouted to make up for cuts to other lines.

Q26: Shortened on weekdays.

Q48: Shortened on weekends.

Q30: Shortened overnight.

Subways

Two lettered subway lines will be eliminated, and one will be altered.

W: Will be replaced by the Q train from 57th Street to Ditmars Boulevard in Astoria.

V: Will be replaced by the M train from Essex Street to Forest Hills. The M train will no longer run from Manhattan to Brooklyn.
