RIDGEWOOD — A 26-year-old Corona woman was arrested after she allegedly stole jewelry from a Ridgewood home where she worked as a cleaning lady and sold it to a pawn shop, the Queens district attorney said.
Gladys Chalco, of 56-28 Waldron St. in Corona, was arraigned June 4 before Queens Criminal Court Judge Elisa Koenderman on a grand larceny charge and released on her own recognizance, Queens DA Richard Brown said. She will return to court June 18.
On May 4, the defendant is alleged to have taken two bracelets, five rings, one charm and a chain valued at $3,000 from the kitchen drawers of a Ridgewood home where she was employed as a cleaning lady, the DA said.
She is accused of then selling the items to a pawn shop on Roosevelt Avenue, Brown said.
The defendant allegedly told police she had her friends sell the jewelry for her and collected a total $4,500, the DA said.
