JAMAICA — A 28-year-old man was arrested two weeks ago on charges of going on a wild ride in his car, causing havoc on the streets and nearly striking another vehicle, the Queens district attorney’s office said.
David McGibbon, of 116th Avenue in Jamaica, was charged with several counts, including reckless endangerment, reckless driving and resisting arrest July 11, the DA’s office said.
Around 4:50 a.m. that morning, a police officer observed McGibbon driving a 2003 BMW south on Sutphin Boulevard at a high speed and running a red light as he crossed 115th Avenue, the criminal complaint said.
He then allegedly overtook a livery cab by crossing the double yellow line, and nearly struck another car while making a hard left turn onto 116th Avenue, according to the complaint.
When McGibbon arrived at his home and was approached by the officer, the defendant said, “I’m an officer,” the complaint said.
