U.S. Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D- Astoria) has raised $1 million more than her Democratic opponent, Reshma Saujani, in the race to retain her seat, while her two Republican opponents, Dino Laverghetta and David Ryan Brumberg, have both brought in more than $88,000, according to state campaign finance records.
Jeremiah Frei-Pearson has removed his name from the race to fill state Assemblyman Michael Gianaris’ (D-Astoria) seat this fall, leaving Democrats Aravella Simotas and John Ciafone to face off in the September primary.
Simotas has raised more than $163,000 in the race so far, according to state campaign finance records, but Ciafone was not listed on the campaign finance board’s website.
Maloney has currently raised $2.5 million for her campaign this fall, while Saujani has raised $1.2 million.
