Four named Chamber Business Persons of the Year

The Queens Chamber of Commerce will honor three individuals and one business as part of its 17th Annual Business Persons of the Year Awards at its 99th Annual reception.

This year’s honorees are Victoria Schneps-Yunis, CEO and Publisher of Schneps Communications and The Queens Courier chain of newspapers as the Small Business Person of the Year; Lou Vlahos, a partner specializing in tax law at Farrell Fritz P.C. as its Medium Business Person of the Year; Hal Rosenbluth, President of Kaufman Astoria Studios as its Large Business Person of the Year and New York Community Bank as its Hall of Fame Honoree.

“The Chamber is really fortunate to have representatives from small, medium and large sized businesses as wonderful and well-respected as Vicki, Lou and Hal,” said Jack Friedman, Executive Vice President of the Queens Chamber of Commerce. “Further, no one is more deserving of our Hall of Fame honors than Joe Ficalora and New York Community Bank. This year’s awards should be very special and having Congresswoman Nydia Velázquez joining us will make the evening even more prestigious.”

Velázquez, who represents parts of Queens and Brooklyn, is the Chair of the House Small Business Committee and the Chair of the House’s Hispanic Caucus. In addition, she is a senior member of the Financial Services Committee.

The Business Persons of the Year reception will take place on Thursday, September 16 at Terrace on the Park from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Individual tickets are $100, and there are many sponsorship opportunities available. A diamond sponsorship is $10,000 and includes 10 tickets; a gold sponsorship is $5,000 and includes six tickets; a silver sponsorship is $2,500 and includes four tickets and a bronze sponsorship is $1,250 and includes two tickets.
