Motorcycle accident kills 1, injures another

JAMAICA — Police responded at about 12:48 a.m. Sunday to a 911 call about a motor vehicle accident on the southbound Van Wyck Expressway before the eastbound Belt Parkway.

Upon arriving at the scene, police determined that the 36-year-old driver of a 2003 Suzuki motorcycle lost control of his bike, struck a guardrail and then struck the 27-year-old driver of a 2008 Suzuki motorcycle.

The 36-year-old driver, Cory Burrus of Jamaica, was pronounced dead on arrival on the scene. The second driver was taken to Jamaica Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The incident is under investigation. There is no criminality suspected at this time, police said.
