Help the people of Appalachia

Howard Beach – Deacon Joseph Campisi and a crew of four men will be heading to Kentucky to help the people of Appalachia on October 10 this year.

Campisi, 79, who has been going for 18 years, needs your help in raising money, which will go towards housing and feeding the destitute there.

“There are poor people here in our own country,” he said. “People have no way of making money – and they’re good people.”

So far, the congregation at St. Virgilius, where Campisi is a deacon, has opened its heart.

“And our friends and children are so generous,” he continued.

The volunteers pay their own way, Campisi explained, “so the money goes from our hands to their hands directly.”

“We are so fortunate to help. We get repaid in so much more than money.”

If you’d like to help, send checks to The Courier at 38-15 Bell Boulevard Bayside, NY 11361.
