The Beach Channel Dolphins (9-1) got back to their winning ways in their final game of the regular season, beating the Long Island City Bulldogs (4-6) by a score of 48-26. The Dolphins had a total of 471 yards of offense. Quarterbacks Patrick Burrello and Breland Archbold threw for a combined 151 yards, completing 10 out of 19 passes. Archbold led the Dolphins on the ground with 88 yards on eight attempts and two touchdowns. Diequan Underwood, Isaiah Robinson, and Burrello each had a rushing touchdown. The offense of the Bulldogs had a good day as well. LIC was able to tally 367 offensive yards. Emilio Gigliotti was the offense for the Bulldogs, throwing for 240 yards on 18 out of 30 attempts with one touchdown and one interception. Gigliotti also rushed for 68 yards and scored three touchdowns. LIC’s Edwin Saez had a game high 15 tackles. The Dolphins will move on to play the South Bronx Phoenix (7-3) in the first round of the bowl playoffs.

The Bayside Commodores (6-4) saw their winning streak snapped by the August Martin Falcons (7-3) by a score of 22-14. The Falcons won their fourth in a row. Ricky Dunbar was perfect on the day completing all five pass attempts for 48 yards and two touchdowns. Jose Desir ran for 105 yards on 19 attempts and a touchdown. Anthony Duzant ran for 95 yards on 14 attempts. William Darden had a team high eight tackles. With this loss, the Commodores fell shy of the playoffs. The Falcons on the other hand will take on the Harry S. Truman Mustangs on the road in the first round of the playoffs.

The John Adams Spartans (5-5) won their fifth in a row, beating the Springfield Garden Golden Eagles (1-9) by a score of 46-6. With the playoffs now out of reach because of an ineligible player, the Spartans played as though it was the championship game. Quarterback Daniel Perez completed five out of 13 passes, threw for 101 yards and had one touchdown. Playing the final game of his high school career, Brandon Wilson rushed for 117 yards and four touchdowns. The four touchdowns tied a school record set by assistant coach Joseph Emma back in the late ‘70s. Senior Frazer John had a total of five yards on three attempts for the season before the fourth quarter of the game. With the game already in hand, head coach Jerry Weitzen decided to put him in. John had three carries and 47 yards with a touchdown on the last play of the game. Senior Branden Oliveras had two sacks, which put him in to second place in total sacks for the season with 12. In first place is his teammate Danville Harry with 13 sacks on the year.

On the junior varsity front, Benjamin Cardozo High School achieved a perfect regular season record with a 42-12 drubbing of Alfred E. Smith Career and Technical High School. Cardozo managed 413 total offensive yards, more than doubling Alfred E. Smith’s output. Cardozo quarterback Perry Haskowitz completed 9-of-10 passes for 170 yards and one touchdown – his one touchdown a 47-yard bomb to receiver Alex Dassardo. Cardozo’s star running back, Fabian Bramwell, rushed for 105 yards and one touchdown.
