JACKSON HEIGHTS — A Jackson Heights woman was sentenced to 30 days in jail for swiping a man’s phone after repeatedly asking him for money around 11 p.m. Nov. 3, Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said.
Therese Kalischer, 34, followed the man while he was walking his dog in the area of 84th Street and 32nd Avenue in Jackson Heights and continued to ask him for money until he threatened to call the police, the DA said.
Kalischer told the man to “go ahead and call the police,” after which the man pulled out his cell phone, which the woman then took out of his hand and ran away, according to the DA.
Approximately five minutes after Kalischer ran off with the phone, she returned and told the man he could have his phone back, the DA said.
Kalischer was sentenced on charges of petit larceny, menacing and harassment.
