Two teen girls arrested in Wendy’s melee: Cops

QUEENS VILLAGE – Two 15-year-old girls were arrested and charged with assault and harassment in connection with the January beating of a Wendy’s cashier that was caught on video and posted on YouTube, police said Tuesday.

A mob of teenage girls from Martin Van Buren High School surrounded the cashier before they attacked the woman at a Wendy’s in Queens Village and the melee was caught on video and posted on YouTube.

Detective Jovoda Cooper of the 105th Precinct said at January’s meeting of Community Board 13 the employee was “beat up” at the Wendy’s on Hillside Avenue by Springfield Boulevard and that the fight was posted to the video-sharing website.

The video, titled “Martin Van Buren High School Students Mobb On A Female Wendy’s Employee!,” shows the cashier attempting to try to control a large mob of girls that entered the establishment before she was attacked.

“This is a police matter and the school is cooperating with police,” said Margie Feinberg, a spokeswoman for the city Department of Education.

The video had been taken off YouTube last week.
