Mamma Bell’s is Back!

Mamma’s is back in the kitchen.

After more than two years out of the pizza business, Mamma’s Pizza & Restaurant reopened on Bell Boulevard – cooking up the same great food at affordable prices that made them a neighborhood staple in Bayside.

Owner Spiro Ploumes said that he never really wanted to close in the first place, so he jumped at the chance to reopen when he heard the spot was up for rent again. Now, he’s relishing in the opportunity to provide customers with top quality eats – in hungry man portions.

“This is the original Mamma Bell’s,” he said. “We’re back with good food, affordable prices and big portions.”

Those big portions are introduced in your salad course. Mamma’s offers both small and large salads, with toppings such as skirt stead, buffalo chicken and grilled veggies. A cool and crisp standout is the California salad, loaded with grilled chicken, avocado, egg, tomato, cucumber, croutons, red onion and romaine lettuce, topped with a vinaigrette dressing.

Each ingredient in the California is fresh and complimentary; with the softness of the avocado playing off the crunch of the cool lettuce, which plays off of the warm chicken, which plays off of everything else. It’s a meal in itself, but it is only the beginning at Mamma’s.

Their pizza selection is extensive and original. Besides time-tested favorite pizzas, they also offer penne ala vodka, spinach and tomato, buffalo chicken and others. Their out-of-the-pizza-box pies include grilled cheese, with American cheese, tomato and bacon; Mexican, with chipotle chicken or steak, black beans, pico de gayo, guacamole, jalapenos and sour cream; and meat lovers with pepperoni, sausage, meatballs and bacon.

Mamma’s also cooks up a wide variety of wraps, all for under $10. Try the Grecian Delite with pork medallions, lettuce, tomatoes, onions and tzatziki sauce. They also offer a Philly cheese wrap, which is everything great about a Philly cheese steak in a wrap.

But don’t wrap up your meal just yet, as it’s entrée time. It’s hard to choose, but go for the chicken rollatini for a filling and delicious meal. Served with your choice of pasta, the rollatini is loaded with cheese and topped with Mamma’s own marinara sauce. It’s classic, belly-filling food at its best.

If you find yourself hungry in the middle of the day, get down to Mamma’s for their daily lunch specials for junior versions of their delicious fare.

Welcome Mamma back to town and let her do the cooking.
