Maria Ferrante of Goshen, N.Y., one of whose daughters lives in Bayside, died March 13 at Orange Regional Medical Center-Arden Hill Campus in Goshen. She was 98.
Ferrante was born June 8, 1912, in Ripi, Italy, the daughter of Vincenzo and Santo Conciatori. On March 14, 1935, she married Angelo Ferrante. She lived in Velettri, Italy, till 1962, when she emigrated to the United States. She worked for a time for the Farberware Co.
Mostly, she was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends. Ferrante taught us that old age can be a time of great pleasure, especially if you can accept the physical limitations which accompany aging. She aged gracefully, still making her homemade pasta and bread right until the end.
Ferrante is survived by two sons, two daughters, 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held March 16 at Donovan Funeral Home Inc. at 82 S. Church St. in Goshen. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. March 17 at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church at 71 Murray Ave. in Goshen.
Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx March 17 at 12:45 p.m. Arrangements are under the care of Donovan Funeral Home Inc. in Goshen.
