USPS worker hit in head with phone book: Cops

ASTORIA — Police were searching for a man who assaulted an on-duty postal worker April 7, hitting him in the head so hard with a telephone book that he had to be taken to an area hospital.

Police said that at 12:45 p.m., a black man described as being about 6 feet to 6 feet 2 inches tall, weighing about 200 pounds and wearing a blue-hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans, entered the lobby at 14-01 36th Ave. in the Ravenswood Houses and confronted the worker while the postman was delivering mail.

He then threw a telephone book at the postal worker’s head, causing minor injury, police said.
