Racino not worth all the hoopla

City Councilman Eric Ulrich (R-Ozone Park) tells us that we need more police around the soon-to-open Aqueduct racino in order to ensure the safety of his constituents and others who will come running with open wallets to the latest gambling den.

I would suggest to the good legislator that his constituents would be a lot safer if they stayed at home because, believe it or not, doing so would mean they would be a lot richer.

If the Ozone Park legislator stopped to think, he would realize that there would be more money in the pockets of his constituents if he spent less money on giveaway benefits relative to programs in the city.

We are told there will be 8 million visitors yearly who will come to Aqueduct after it is open. My Uncle Barnum used to say there is a sucker born every minute, but with 8 million people coming, I suspect there is a sucker born every second.
